Fab and Bobo Head to Head – MW5

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool

Last Five Meetings: W1 D2 L2

Fab Says: Spurs suffered a somewhat shock loss at Vicarage Road before the international break and suddenly questions are being asked of them. Liverpool are still flying high, scoring goals and hardly letting in any. With the absence of captain Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli compounded by Harry Kane’s struggles of late, this might be a bad time for them to face The Reds who just might switch from brilliant to rampant at such an invitation.

Predicts: 1-2

Bobo Says: The Reds have the advantage going into this fixture made even better by the injury to Lloris (arguably the most important player for Spurs). Spurs do tend to have some grit about them under Mauricio Pocchetino but I do not think that is enough for them to get anything against the high flying Reds.

Predicts: 1-3

Bournemouth v Leicester City

Last Five Meetings: W1 D4 L0

Fab Says: Both teams are having a good season so far, even if they are coming off defeats to Chelsea and Liverpool respectively. This is a difficult one to call, so I’ll go with an entertaining draw.

Predicts: 2-2

Bobo Says: Two teams that have had a fairly good start to the season. It will be an interesting match for both but I believe the Cherries have what it takes to get all the three points.

Predicts: 2-1

Chelsea v Cardiff City

Last Three Meetings: W3 D0 L0

Fab Says: Maurizio Sarri is having a dream start to life in England with his team winning every league game so far and out-passing everyone. Even if the break halted their momentum, the visit of Cardiff is unlikely to cause them much discomfort. A routine win for the home side is well on the cards.

Predicts: 2-0

Bobo Says: Chelsea players seem unbothered by the new tactics and new playing style. They are looking like a stronger unit with each match. Cardiff, probably the most antifootball team currently, cannot do much to stop Chelsea.

Predicts: 3-1

Huddersfield Town v Crystal Palace

Last Five Meetings: W2 D1 L2

Fab Says: Palace have gone off the rails since their opening win at Fulham and will have to remedy the situation fast before it degenerates into an early survival battle. That won’t be easy against a Huddersfield side that have embraced the struggle especially with that hard-fought draw with Everton two weeks ago. The problem with the Terriers is that they don’t score enough goals to actually win matches and that will be their undoing even in this one.

Predicts: 1-2

Bobo Says: Huddersfield are a well-organized unit but the football thing just doesn’t work for them sometimes. They face a Palace side with a very decent attack and that can cause a lot of trouble. For some reason however, I think Huddersfield will have just enough to fly above the Eagles.

Predicts: 1-0

Manchester City v Fulham

Last Five Meetings: W5 D0 L0

Fab Says: The champions have been utterly dominant in the recent past in this fixture and even though the visitors are scoring goals alright, you just have the feeling that City will be too strong, more so at home. Then again with the red hot form of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, The Cottagers have the ability to make this more of a contest than a procession for the hosts.

Predicts: 4-1

Bobo Says: A Fulham team that can score but really cannot defend makes for an exciting match. Manchester City will be ready to pounce on the defensive disorganization shown by the Cottagers but they must be weary of their goal threat. It will be interesting to see what approach Fulham take to stop the Citizens but we may be in for a goal fest.

Predicts: 4-2

Newcastle United v Arsenal

Last Five Meetings: W1 D0 L4

Fab Says: The Magpies are still winless this season, and maybe that’s down to the difficult fixtures they’ve had to contend with. Arsenal are starting to win on the road, but were unconvincing in their dismissal of Cardiff and that suggests that they could be in for another frustrating afternoon in the North East. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally opened his account for the season and if paired again with his buddy Alexandre Lacazette the Gunners just might have the required ammunition to gun down a Newcastle side that will undoubtedly be steely and organized at the back.

Predicts: 1-2

Bobo Says: This is a tough fixture for Emery and the Gunners. Newcastle are not an easy team to beat and Rafa Benitez will have identified the softness in the Arsenal side and will have a go at this. Arsenal have a massive chance to get a vital three points but it depends on team selection and the number of chances they create. It is likely to be a frustrating affair for the Gunners so they will need patience and organization throughout. They should just about see it, and maybe collect a clean sheet while at it.

Predicts: 0-1

Watford v Manchester United

Last Five Meetings: W1 D0 L4

Fab Says: One side is firing on all cylinders while the other is finding their footing. If you didn’t know you’d have guessed United being the former and Watford being the latter, but that’s wide off the mark as it turns out. And frankly, the Hornets are the favourites for this encounter. You just never know which United is going to turn up so I’m sticking with the known.

Predicts: 2-1

Bobo Says: Watford have been so good this season. They have conceded just 3 goals and scored 9 of their own. They sit pretty among the big boys going into the fifth match week and it is quite difficult to see what Manchester United can do to change this. it will probably be another good day for the Hornets.

Predicts: 3-1

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Burnley

Last Five Meetings: W1 D2 L2

Fab Says: Wolves are getting the hang of Premier League football and have produced remarkable performances so far. Burnley on the other hand can thank the heavens that their short and ill-fated continental adventure in the Europa League is over early enough into the season – they just never looked like being able to multitask. A trip to the Molineux probably comes a tad too early for them though.

Predicts: 2-1

Bobo Says: Burnley are looking out of sorts this season. They are a pale shadow of the team that was so well organized for large periods of the 2017/18 season. Wolves on the other hand are starting to show why they won the Championship and they are playing some neat and entertaining football and getting the results for it too. I expect it will be a win for the Wolves.

Predicts: 2-0

Everton v West Ham United

Last Five Meetings: W2 D1 L2

Fab Says: The Hammers cannot catch a break, though of course you hope the international break did them some good. They remain the only team in the English leagues to not register a win so far this season. Everton can blow hot and cold but I certainly expect them to be too hot for the hapless West Ham to handle.

Predicts: 3-1

Bobo Says: The international break was probably not enough time for West Ham to sort their issues. On the other hand, it could have been great for Everton especially as Richarlison, the star man in the team, got off to a flying start for his country. It is deeper into the fire for the Hammers.

Predicts: 3-0

Southampton v Brighton & Hove Albion

Last Five Meetings: W2 D2 L1

Fabian Says: The Saints against all odds claimed an impressive scalp at the capital against Palace before the break and so arrive for this one in good shape. The Seagulls themselves aren’t that badly off but you’ve really got to question their form away from the Amex. There’s also the small matter of them having been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Southampton in late August. Methinks the Saints have their number and will win.

Predicts: 2-0

Bobo Says: The Saints will be happy that they started winning before the break and they should be able to build on this momentum and pick up another win at home.

Predicts: 2-0
