Fab and Bobo Head to Head – MW11

Bournemouth v Manchester United

Last Five Meetings: W0 D1 L4

Fab Says: These two teams are separated by two places on the log and in fact Bournemouth are guaranteed to stay on top of United unless they lose this match by at least four goals. With The Cherries’ impressive recent form (5 wins out of 6) and United’s patchy form (2 wins out of 6) it’s difficult to envisage that kind of a rampant United result. The visitors will go into this one the fresher side, having not been involved in the midweek Carabao Cup fixtures, but that won’t stop the home side from having a go at them. Somehow I think the freshness just about tilts the scale in Man United’s favour.

Predicts: 1-2

Bobo Says: Tough match to predict. United seem to be on a sort of rise. Bournemouth have by and large been consistent this season. They have shown that they can score goals and they are not afraid of having a go at any team. It won’t be so easy for the Red Devils but they do have a good record against the Cherries. Bournemouth are going about their business quietly and they should get another vital 3 points.

Predicts: 2-1

Cardiff City v Leicester City

Last Five Meetings: W1 D3 L1

Fab Says: This encounter could well be overshadowed by the tragic events of last Saturday at the King Power Stadium where Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and others perished in a helicopter crash after his club’s draw with West Ham. May their souls rest in eternal peace. Will The Foxes have recovered from the shock in time for this match? I don’t know, but Cardiff, in as much as they will be commiserating with their opponents will want to take advantage of any lack of sharpness displayed. And I think they will win it.

Predicts: 2-1

Bobo Says: Leicester will come into this with heavy hearts and heavy legs. I believe that the loss of their owner should motivate them to go for the win here. However, I think it will be too much to expect and Cardiff have a chance to win an important three points.

Predicts: 1-0

Everton v Brighton & Hove Albion

Last Two Meetings: W1 D1 L0

Fab Says: Brighton have done well to conjure up some decent recent form, winning all their last three matches. Worryingly though, each of those wins have been by the slimmest of margins (1-0) and you have to think it would certainly take a lot more than that for them to claim all the points from Goodison Park. Everton too will be keen to get back to winning ways after falling short at Old Trafford last weekend, and I think they pretty much will.

Predicts: 2-0

Bobo Says: Everton’s match to win though it probably will not be a straight forward victory. Brighton have shown that they are up for the challenge but Everton have the quality to get all three at Goodison Park.

Predicts: 3-1

Newcastle United v Watford

Last Five Meetings: W0 D0 L5

Fab Says: It’s very rare to find a team as dominant over their opponents as Watford have been over Newcastle in their past five meetings. That disparity is well reflected in their current positions on the table, Watford as high as seventh while The Magpies are perilously close to the bottom in 19th place. The home side is still searching for their first win this campaign, but I doubt the visitors will be in a generous mood.

Predicts: 1-2

Bobo Says: The Toon are in a terrible position. They are not playing football and they are not getting the results. Watford have a historical advantage going into this and they should continue with their dominance in this fixture.

Predicts: 0-3

West Ham United v Burnley

Last Four Meetings: W3 D1 L1

Fab Says: This season isn’t turning out to be Burnley’s favourite, right? On top of their early season struggles they have shipped in nine goals in their last two league assignments, albeit to Man City and Chelsea. The Hammers were unlucky to not get the win at Leicester after battling so hard for long periods with 10 men following captain Mark Noble’s sending off. They will probably want to exploit some of Burnley’s defensive frailties. They should be able to get the win this time.

Predicts: 2-1

Bobo Says: The Hammers will look to get three points after a disappointing last round. They were headed for an important win until the last minute. Burnley will give a good fight but the Hammers should get all the three points.

Predicts: 3-1

Arsenal v Liverpool

Last Five Meetings: W0 D2 L3

Fab Says: This fixture has been littered with a plethora of goals and this Saturday will be no exception. In as much as The Gunners have been in superb form, they haven’t faced any bona fide top side in that run and so the visit of Liverpool is a massive test of just how far they’ve come under Unai Emery. A worrying stat for Arsenal is that they haven’t beaten Liverpool in 6 games since a 4-1 win at The Emirates in April 2015. Liverpool have been in good form, but crucially have played Napoli, Man City and Chelsea (twice) without beating any of them. Are they finding it a bit difficult against quality sides? Arsenal will surely have that in mind and give it a real go. Maybe for once in a long time they will come out on top against a fellow top 6 side.

Predicts: 2-1

Bobo Says: Arsenal’s fine run in the Premier League was ended by a draw against Crystal Palace. This was a great test before the visit from the Reds. Unai should have spotted some weaknesses in his team. Liverpool are confident and they come into this with recent history on their side. However, they haven’t been that good against top sides and I think they will finally get exposed in what should be a thrilling match.

Predicts: 3-2

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur

Last Five Meetings: W1 D2 L2

Fab Says: After starting so well and impressing many, it’s now two straight losses for Wolves and Spurs could well make it three. Spurs have experienced all the three possible football results in their last three games so are themselves not in good form too. I’m torn between a draw and an away win for this one, but I guess the return of Dele Alli gives the visitors an X factor, and that will be needed at the Molineux where matches tend to be very closely contested.

Predicts: 0-1

Bobo Says: Wolves are going through their own slump right now. They have been quite solid until recently. Spurs are not in the best form either but they still have the advantage going into this. I think the teams will share the spoils.

Predicts: 1-1

Manchester City v Southampton

Last Four Meetings: W3 D1 L1

Fab Says: City top the table, but it’s not an outright lead as Liverpool has been keeping the pace. They will be hoping that by the time they kick off at the Etihad, Liverpool will have dropped points at Arsenal and so this is a match for them to put some distance between them and the chasing pack, as well as to pad their supremely healthy goal difference. The Saints aren’t scoring goals, and it’s hard to compete like that anywhere, more so at the home of the champions. It could get ugly here.

Predicts: 5-0

Bobo Says: This fixture doesn’t look too good for the Saints. Last season however they did a lot to stifle the eventual champions as both of Manchester City’s winning PL goals came in stoppage-time. I don’t think they will present much of a challenge this time.

Predicts: 3-0

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

Last Five Meetings: W3 D0 L2

Fab Says: Palace have a surprisingly decent recent record against Chelsea in this derby, but this becomes their second successive London derby after last Sunday’s draw with Arsenal. That can’t be good for them. Apart from that scare at home to United, Chelsea have been in fantastic form and will continue to buttress their title ambitions with another win here.

Predicts: 3-1

Bobo Says: The Eagles have won two of their last three away PL matches against Chelsea, more than in their previous 18 at Stamford Bridge. This is an interesting fact and should give the Eagles more confidence. However, they are meeting a more stylish Chelsea side that is well organized. Still… I think Palace could pull one over Chelsea yet again.

Predicts: 1-2

Huddersfield Town v Fulham

Last Five Meetings: W0 D2 L3

Fabian Says: Both sides are in the drop zone and thus this effectively is a relegation six-pointer. Maybe the difference is that Huddersfield has a problem scoring the goals while Fulham’s problem is stopping opponents from breaching their defense. That said I think I’m always going to back the side more capable of scoring, so Fulham’s fire-power will just about paper over cracks at the back.

Predicts: 1-2

Bobo Says: “Since scoring against Watford in April, Huddersfield have had 76 shots in PL home matches without finding the net, with 17 different players having an attempt on goal” and this highlights the main problem for Huddersfield. They also can’t defend that well either. Luckily, they face Fulham, a team that either doesn’t care much for defending or doesn’t know how to defend. Fulham on the other hand can score some goals and they should get something here.

Predicts: 1-3
